Cast-Away-Cancer

The 2015 Cast Away Cancer event is taking place from 10-12th April with all money raised going to Macmillan Cancer Support. Once again a 48 hour match is being held at Broadwater (Packington Fisheries) in Meriden, near Coventry with 18 anglers taking part. Cast Away Cancer was founded in 2014 by a group of carp anglers who have all lost someone close to them to cancer. Last year’s event raised a staggering £12,000, exceeding all expectations and we are hoping this year’s event will be another success.  We are already overwhelmed by the support received from the public and angling industry with prizes and donations flooding in every day.

After last year’s achievement Adam Penning has agreed to be an ambassador for Cast Away Cancer and for the second year running the angler who raises the most amount of money will fish with Adam for the duration of the match. Chris Appleby will also be fishing the match and lucky auction winner Jon Butcher will fish alongside Chris for the weekend. Chris has kindly donated end tackle and bait to Jon.  Also in attendance we have Joe Turnbull from Carpworld who will be on hand to discuss bait and baiting strategies. Carpworld, Carp-Talk and Crafty Carper have all agreed to support Cast Away Cancer by running press releases before and after the event.

Cast Away Cancer is also proud to announce that Trakker will have a stand at the event all weekend and will be showcasing their new spring products for the very first time. If this wasn’t enough Jake Wildbore will be attending on the Saturday to talk rigs and answer any ‘carpy’ questions you may have. Saturday will be open to the public from 12-3pm and for a donation on the gate you can be part of this year’s event. There will be a BBQ, games and raffles taking place all day with many prizes up for grabs so come and help us raise as much money as we can for a fantastic cause.
